So, without further ado, here are our rankings (votes – first place votes), with next week’s schedule. Week 9 will be games played between January 10 and January 16. As the season progresses, we’ll keep a log of top wins and bad losses so you can follow the important information to the NCAA tournament.

  1. Miami is a tough one to make assumptions about. They’ve only lost once (like VT at the time) but had looked much better in doing so. They had a few key midmajor wins but nothing spectacular (almost identical to Kansas State. It’s still early in the season, but someone has to be ranked. Honestly, there are a lot of teams that belong in the 20-50 discussion and they’re all about the same. Rounding out the top 25 is a crap shoot. As for Miami, I think most of their high ranking came from everyone else losing.

    And, as a UNC fan, I am a little worried about going 7-9 in conference play. Don’t be so quick to think the Heels are going to be above Miami. So far, they’ve had 4 games in road or road-like venues including a game against College of Charleston. They’re 0-4 so far. It won’t get easier in the ACC. Look out @ Clemson this week.
