So, the big news of the week: one of our loyal readers sent in a picture of this freaking beautiful sailfish he caught off the Florida coast on his honeymoon. I hope your marriage is as good as your fishing trip. Congratulations on that monster.

And now for the weekly report:

Last week I landed 6 smallmouth bass, but again, nothing worth talking about. The largest fish I got was 12 inches long. Nothing else – no bluegill, no minnows, nothing. Some guys trespassing across the river caught a nice bass. I hope they took it home and ate it and picked up some disease. Anyway, we had a lot of rain last week and the river came up and got pretty murky. It’s still about a foot above normal for this time of year, but slowly coming down after the heat wave we had to end the week. This weekend should be sunny and pleasant. I don’t have much work and I’ve got Sunday and Monday with nothing to do but drink and fish. Hopefully I can get on the board soon.

Michael Street is indisposed, so we have no fishing report from him. I’m sure he’s been fishing in his fancy private lakes and landing some fish that will get him recognition in this contest. Kudos to him for knowing the right people, I guess. Cheater.

For those who want to show off, we’re using the state Master Angler sizes, but counting all fish that measure at least 80% of the Master Anger size limits. It’s getting embarrassing for us, but at least none of you have done any better. You should let us know if you do.

On the bright side, we’ve got another participant in this fishing contest – the best looking reader of the EJSIC site (or so I’ll assume until I get pictures from someone who believes they’re hotter) – a weather guesser from coastal Oregon. While she’s happy to compete, she’s not having any more luck than Michael or myself.
