This has to be the worst call in Major League history.
I know it’s a judgment call, but how can justice be THAT blind in THAT situation? Unbelievable.

This call (1985 World Series Game 6) will forever be the worst ever. It only beats this one b/c it cost St. Louis what would have been the series-clinching game.
They lost Game 7, too.
Both were horrible calls, though. I feel horribly sorry for Galarraga. Chances are he’ll never do it again.
By the situation of the Cardinals-Royals WS, I don’t know how that could be bigger. I realize the WS is a bigger thing, but consider a few things:
1) There is a World Series winner every single year. There have only been ~20 perfect games thrown in the tens or hundreds of thousands of games started
2) The Cardinals still had an inning to play in that game AND a full game to play the next game. This was the absolute last moment of the rarest feat in sports
That’s a viable argument, but I personally think the World Series call was worst considering it could have been the deciding game in the Series.
Either way, both calls were horrendous.
