EJSIC College Basketball Top 25 — Week 12

Pre-Season | Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5 | Week 6 | Week 8 | Week 12

Hey, remember Basketball Polls? We still do those here, right? For this week at least, the EJSIC Top 25 makes its triumphant return. Obviously, a lot has changed since we last touched base. There are only two undefeated teams left as Duke, Syracuse, and Kansas have all taken a loss (or two) over the past couple weeks. The resulting carnage has left us believing that Pitt and Ohio State are actually national title contenders. Don’t worry, though. This too shall pass.

EJSIC College Basketball Top 25 — Week 8

Pre-Season | Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5 | Week 6 | Week 7 | Week 8

After taking a week off for the Holidays (I think), the EJSIC Top 25 is back with a vengeance for Week 8. A lot has happened in the past two weeks. We found out Tennessee sucks, the SEC West is the worst collection of BCS teams in the modern era, and that Syracuse, Kentucky, and Texas are all better than we gave them credit for. With conference play already starting for a lot of teams, things should continue to get more and more interesting with each passing week.

EJSIC College Basketball Top 25 — Week 6

Pre-Season | Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5 | Week 6

There were a lot of losses and near losses this week and the movement in the polls reflects that. Kansas dropped a spot after a near miss against USC and the Filthy Vols fell back to Earth a bit after two consecutive losses to mid-majors. Also bit by the mid-major bug were Illinois who lost to UIC and Baylor who lost to lowly Gonzaga (snicker).

EJSIC College Basketball Top 25 — Week 5

Pre-Season | Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5

After 4 seasons of the SEC/Big East Invitational, the series record now sits at 8-8. The “glass half-full” guy would call that a moral victory for a down SEC, while the “glass half-empty” guy would call that “kissing your sister”. [Insert inbred southerners joke here.] The Dirty Vols continued their climb up the top 25 this week, by pummeling #4 Pitt in Pittsburgh.  Duke played no one and Michigan State lost again. Sounds a lot like every season, doesn’t it?

EJSIC College Basketball Top 25 — Week 4

Pre-Season | Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4

Outside of UNC’s upset of #11 Kentucky in Chapel Hill, nothing Earth-shattering happened this week. Duke was still Duke in December and Michigan State was still Michigan State in December. I’m guessing both incarnations will be vastly different when March rolls around. The “down” Big East now sees itself represented by 6 teams in the top 25, the most for any conference. Barf.

EJSIC College Basketball Top 25 — Week 3

Pre-Season | Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3

There was plenty of moving and shaking this week (wait for it), especially in the Maui Invitational where UCONN battled through an earthquake (nice, right?) to upset #2 Michigan State and #8 Kentucky on their way to the Paradise Title. The Huskies were rewarded with a #6 ranking in this week’s poll after being unranked heading in to the week. Other big movers include Tennessee who moved up to #8 and Minnesota who made it up to #15, after both teams won their respective tournaments.
